Hottest Home Baker ?

Baking is NOT one of my talents, my cakes always seem to be over cooked, under cooked or they sink in the middle. So....now things have got a little quieter on the photography front I have set myself a challenge. Each week over the winter I am going to bake a special treat. I am also going to photograph each treat, my way of justifying all that baking business is to have the thrill of getting my camera out at the end of it all. If this all goes well then I may start offering to bake wedding cakes for my brides in addition to photographing their big day!!
Well here goes....
Cake # ONE.   - LEMON SOUR CREAM CAKE
Made with help from Miss Seven who has a Teacher Only Day today....yay for an enthusiastic helper to get me started.

Cake # ONE all done.
Special thanks to my lovely helper - I promise I did do MOST of the work, really I did!!

RECIPE - Lemon Sour Cream Cake

www.bakingmakesthingsbetter.com

110g butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
The rind of one large lemon
1 cup flour
1t baking powder
120g sour cream

Glaze:
Juice of one large lemon
1T hot water
1/4 cup sugar

Cream butter and sugar. Then beat in eggs and lemon rind.
Sift flour and baking powder. Fold in flour mix in three lots alternating with sour cream.
Mix until smooth and pour into a well greased and lined tin.
Bake for 35-40 minutes at 160 degrees celcius.

To make the glaze, juice your lemon and add hot water, then the sugar, 1 teaspoonful at a time, stirring between each addition.
Once the cake is cooked remove from the oven, leave in tin for five minutes before pouring on the glaze. Dust with icing sugar for decoration. To help glaze seep into cake pierce all over with a skewer.
Remove from tin when cool. Serve with whipped cream or natural yoghurt.

Enjoy!!

Kaleb, Bailey and Olivia - More Autumn Loveliness.

Miss Olivia came to visit me with her big brothers. She has just turned ONE and these important times in a little girl's life should be captured forever. We had great fun playing in the leaves and picking up stones. She is such a little cutie and is totally loved by her family and I bet she's pretty happy to have such cool big brothers. These boys were great to work with and had none of the usual awkwardness that boys that age usually have, in fact, just quietly, I think they quite liked their portrait shoot.

Olivia, thanks so much for bringing your beautiful smile along to my house. You can come again anytime!!

Simply Beautiful

Amy has been our neighbour for the last few years and our families spend a lot of time together. Last month she turned the ripe old age of twelve, so we got together for a mini portrait session to mark the occasion.

Amy you are BEAUTIFUL. Happy birthday!!

Shades of Autumn

I'm back on deck once again after an unbelievable holiday to Phuket. We were away for twelve days and we loved every single minute of it...there will be photos to come (just as soon as I've caught up on some overdue editing). I know you all want to see me riding an elephant ... he he. My girls had so many photos taken of them while they were away. Sadly most of these weren't taken by their photographer mum, but instead by Thai or Indian people who obviously were quite taken with the little white kids and their friends. I have trouble getting them to pose for me, so I was quietly impressed by how nicely they posed for strangers.
I did find these pretty Autumn portraits I took of Cierra and Jaime. I may have been a wee bit sneaky and brought them along on a mini portrait session I was doing as a gift to our gorgeous twelve year old neighbour for her birthday....photos coming up real soon. My sneakiness paid off and while I photographed Amy, I also managed to get a couple of shots for the family albums.
Autumn is the perfect season for photography... all that golden warm light, and those leaves, who could resist playing in the leaves.

Thanks girls for your patience - you'll thank me for this one day!!

Sarah & Glen Wedding @ East Taieri Church.

Sarah and Glen are our last couple for this wedding season and their special day was full of Autumn loveliness. I have now officially decided that Autumn is my very favourite time of the year and these images will show you why - I'm just loving the beautiful golden light.
I also LOVE that Sarah and Glen have known each other forever, in fact their parents are great friends and this meant that the two of them practically grew up together. The day was filled with gorgeous photos of them as four year olds, family holidays and a very special one of them at their school formal - together of course. Is this sweet or what? It kind of reminds me of the boy who used to sit next to me in my high school maths class .... now he sits next me to me on the couch at night instead.
Sarah and Glen's day was filled to the brim with all things beautiful and it was my pleasure to be their photographer.

Whew ....... that was a whole lot of wedding loveliness in one go.
Sarah and Glen I just want to wish you much love and happiness in your life together.
